Why Get an NPHC?

An NPHC provides you with up-to-date and accurate information about an individual’s criminal background. This information can give you added peace of mind when hiring a new employee (or promoting from within), helping you to minimise any risks to your business, your other employees, your customers, your community, and your reputation.

Annual NPHCs

Where all ongoing staff are required to undergo a new NPHC on a regular basis – are also a routine process for many organisations. This is an invaluable tool for managing your existing staff and ensuring you’re aware of changes to your employees’ situations that could potentially impact on your business. We can send you notification when your employees’ NPHCs are due for renewal.

You can now apply for a police check completely online.

What Will an NPHC Tell Me?

When you request an NPHC, any police history information held about the person in question is identified and released. This police history comes from all Australian states and territories, so it’s a very comprehensive background check.

The results of your NPHC will fall into one of the two following categories:

No Disclosable Court Outcomes

This means there’s no police history information about your prospective employee that’s held, or that can be released to you.

Disclosable Court Outcomes

This indicates that police history information that can be released to you about your prospective employee does exist. This police history information may include:

  • Charges
  • Court convictions (including information about any penalty/sentence)
  • Findings of guilt with no conviction
  • Court appearances
  • Good behaviour bonds or other court orders
  • Pending matters awaiting court hearing
  • Some traffic offences

(A note on disclosure: whether or not police history information can be disclosed to you will be determined by each police agency. Their decision will be based on spent conviction legislation, and information release policies. The purpose of your NPHC and any other relevant legislation will also determine what information is released.)

Do you want the extra certainty and peace of mind that comes with a police history check? Then don’t wait. Whether you are in NSW, VIC, SA, QLD, WA, ACT or NT, apply for a police check online today. It’s fast and easy.

This is a great way to eliminate applicants who will not, or cannot, consent to a National Police History Check. Not only will this help ensure your applicants are trustworthy, it also means you don’t have to wade through as many résumés when you’re deciding who to interview!
